These small, evil doglike humanoids usually live underground in clans of 10 to 60 members. They have scaly, rust-brown skin no hair. They have well-developed darkvision and prefer to attack by ambush; they gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls per ally adjacent to the target, and a Kobold with combat advantage does an additional 1d6 damage.
Kobolds have a natural talent for setting and spotting traps; they have a +2 to saves against them, and their skittish nature allows them to shift 1 square in combat as a minor action.
Kobolds hate gnomes and will attack them on sight.
Terrain: Cavern, Hill, Mountain, Wood.

Big thumbs up to this, sir.
The one thing I miss from new Monster Manual entries is the ecology section that the AD&D gave us. It was a nice little bit of fluff that helped make all of those weird critters feel just a bit more real to me.

Very nice – I may need to follow this example myself, it is a bit less…impersonal than the typical 4E stat block :)
Very nice. I’m pleasantly surprised how well that seems to work.
Not bad. :)
I’d combine level + xp (unless you need the level up there for something) and add the bloodied value to the hp to make it more useful.
