Well, Facebook is not all about red roses and less of what MySpace have a rumor to be, but it’s more fun because of the applications you can add to your page
However, the main population at Facebook are still barely 20 years old…and if that’s grown up…well, you need to meet my son who’s almost 5 years older than that and see how “old” it really is…hehe
From what I’ve seen so far it works a lot smoother than MySpace ever done. But…then you cannot make your own theme for your page, and that is what makes a huge difference.
I miss that bit since that was the only fun thing about MySpace. A darn challenge to make the theme work, look good and load fast :p
As a community I never used MySpace so I can’t really compare the two that way.
But, what makes a community is the people who are using it, not the site itself

Ever since I created my first profiles via FOAF, on MySpace and on Xing I wondered what this was all supposed to do for me. The only benefit I’ve noticed from Xing is that lots of coworkers and clients are on Xing, so should I ever loose my job, I’d have a big list of contacts that I could look into.
Other than that… My social network is created via the feeds of personal blogs I’m subscribed to.
