I’m not a code-slinger… I’m just a geeky Microbiologist-turned-QA Manager and part-time DM.
Mu laptop is a hand-me-down from our IT director. Still a sweet behemoth (Compaq nx9600). I run WinXP?, the usual corporate tools + Firefox, Google Desktop, iGoogle page with Google reader (that’s how I catch your posts so fast) and Last.fm’s scrobling widget that spies on what I listen to while mascarding as a Streaming Music radio.
As my IT director understands geekyness. I have Admin access to the laptop and was encouraged to install games on the machine. His words: “Have you heard the sound on this machine, awesome’
Of course, while I lug around that 12 pounds monster, he has this slick new MacBook? that runs 3 OSes (Win XP, Mac OS and Linux)

Firefox with 13 pages open – I know I’m not trying hard enough!
Pownce desktop client
Snoop (Reinvigorate.net client)
FeedDemon?
Psi (Jabber client)
Steam (steampowered.com game thingy!)
Mozy backup
SlimServer? (Squeezebox server thingy)
last.fm client
All on Vista Home Premium 64bit – I hope I don’t make your page feel dirty just by mentioning that!

I’m actually proud to have been able to expunge all instances of IE opening in my Vista Desktop. This was not easy for a non power-user like me.
Cool for the tag Greywulf, take your time. Hope you didn’t mind.

Hm… Mac OS 10.3.9 (and older version), Emacs 22 (latest release, self-compiled), Firefox, Terminal.app (the default terminal emulator for Mac with its own set of problems), and a SSH agent. When I’m developing stuff, I might also start Apache. The rest is not really under my control.
