WhereOnceAForest:

Where once a forest stood tall and proud

Where once a forest stood tall and proud
A lone reminder lives on still
Of leafy bough and ancient lore
Yet still we cut and carve and tear
‘Till all we leave to shade
Our children’s children face
Is steel and glass, infertile brick
No living thing with tales untold
To mark the seasons shifting grace
We care not, dare not, feel not, will not
Change our ways till nature calls enough
And breaks our pride, bends us low
Bids the forest return and grow.
