Ah, the joys of GIMP. I took this shot yesterday during a stroll around the Stockley Trail/Peter Fidler Nature Reserve at the bottom of Bolsover Hill.
Last night a little fiddling with GIMP scripts produced this lovely; it’s a combination of Auto Contrast + Focus Blur + Lomo.
Technically, it should be a mess, but I love it
What I like most about GIMP is that it’s infinitely extendable; the plugins I used to tweak this shot are nothing more than simple scripts that are a doddle to customize. Try doing that with a Photoshop plugin! Actions don’t even come close. Of course, it’s also possible to produce something that looks more like a dog’s dinner, but that can be done using any software.
I’ve a bunch of other shots from the walk (43 keepers out of 48 taken. Not a bad average ), so I’ll post them up over the next few days.
Oh, and expect more shots using the Focus Blur script. I’ll explain more about it next time!
