ForgottenButNotGone: We've changed phone provider. In theory, that's a simple and painless process that involves paying less for the phoneline, but no other hassles at all. Heck, it even says that in all the marketing bumph. Good work, that. Bumph, bumph, bumph.

Where was I? Oh, yes………

So, we changed phone provider and gained an extra special something as an added welcome bonus. Line noise, and lots of it. Enough to knock out the broadband signal completely, and make 1830 vintage dial-up even less palatable than normal.

As a consequence we’ve been netless for about a week, and ended up with a cleaner, healthier home as a result. It’s even been decorated in the bathroom and kitchen :)

We’re not back yet. This is just temporary thanks to a found dial-up connection number and a working modem. It’s icky, but enough to tell people we’re alive.

I’m going to shout at the new provider (again) tomorrow and try to get the line noise sorted. If no success, we’re changing back to our old provider. It might be more expensive, but at least broadband works on it!

We will back back…………
