Software that’s inspired by Quake just has to be cool. This one is so good, it’s brilliant. In most Quake-like games if you press ESC a little console drops down from the top of the screen where it’s possible to connect to servers, enter cheat codes, etc.

tilda is just like that. Press a hotkey and a small console window drops from the top of your display, bash prompt at the ready. It might not make you invulnerable or frag all your enemies instantly, but it’s great for those little one line Perl hacks that make the world a better place.

I can’t wait until we can kill processes using a shotgun. Oh wait. We can already :)
