From being multi-lingual (4 times over) I dare to say that English is among the most easy and lazy languages I’ve ever had to learn
I have a lack of words because of this sometimes. It’s not easy to replace a language like Swedish with English expressions when they doesn’t even exist :p
Just like German and Dutch, Swedish is much more colourful and expressive, and yes, I know it also have the same “rough” sound to it.
August Strindberg, the Swedish author, used in general about 119 288 words when he wrote his books. Compared to Shakespears collected works where you’ll find 29 066 words.
German and Swedish are also very similar when it comes to the nightmare called grammatics. There’s just no fricking end to that :p
I would love to learn French at some point. It’s a handy language to have since it works in a lot of countries.
Same goes for Spanish.
