Children are smarter than Christians – it’s official

Warning: Flame bait. You have been warned. I’m just curious, that’s all……..

Here’s a simple test for you. Find a nearby child and give him/her a few books. Ask them to put them into two piles; one pile that contains stuff that’s “fact”, and the other pile containing “fiction”.

I’d suggest that 95% of children would get this simple exercise close to 100% correct.

Now try it with an adult American Christian. I know there are Clever Christians out there. But sorry folks, you seem to be in the minority here.

Y’see, Christians seem to have a lot of problems differentiating fact from fiction. I’m excluding the Bible from this blogpost here – they take that as fact, and that’s just fine by me – but when it comes to books like The Da Vinci Code and Harry Potter, then their brains turn to poo turd. There must be some kind of “religious/stupid” gene that kicks in and makes them react in ways that just don’t make sense at all. I suspect Muslims have the same problem when it comes to cartoons. I dunno.

So can someone explain to me just what’s going on in a Christian’s brain? Books like the Harry Potter series and the Da Vinci Code cause Stupid Christians to want them banned from libraries because they “might tempt children toward witchcraft” or they “belittle Christianity”. Yet they don’t emit a sound about the countless books and movies that promote murder, sex or torture. Go figure.

Sorry, but I don’t see many American Christians doing something worthwhile, like actually trying to make the world a better place for everyone to live in, not just feathering the beds of the already afluent and-not-dying-from-poverty-West. Instead they live smug little lives and criticise the easy targets. Maybe it’s the vocal minority who are giving a quiet but honest non-stupid Christian majority a bad name.

Maybe I’m missing something.

What do you think?
