The pic above has made the Photos of the Week page over at Renderocity, which is both flattering and baffling at the same time. Renderocity is a comunity who know their stuff. It’s borne from the 3d rendering community, hence the name (which I keep trying not to say with an Irish lilt, as in “Render O’City”) which means that there people give, and expect, technical excellence. I didn’t know until faily recently that they accepted photographers into their hallowed ranks, but as they do, I duely joined.
I’m very flattered that they like this shot so much. Those glasswing butterflys are difficult buggers to focus on, expecially as the atmosphere in that Butterfly House isn’t exactly condusive to my camera. But really, I don’t think it’s that great a shot, especially when put alongside the terrific works of art that also got Photo of the Week. I mean, it’s just a green mushy pic with some cool butterflies in focus. Or am I missing something. I’m still flattered though
I’ve posted up what I reckon to be some of my very best shots on Render O’City; the one’s I’m proud of, and this just isn’t one of them. Take a look at my Gallery over there and let me know what you think is the best. If it’s that glasswing picture, please tell me what you think is so great about it!
