The concept of the wiki is perhaps the pinnacle of the internet right now; websites anyone can edit and refine, all internlinked by a common syntax and set of references. Any damage or abuse can be easily repaired by anyone using version control as all changes are logged, and anyone can participate in their creation.
Wikis become organic lifeforms in their own right. I can write up a page about something, go to sleep, and the next morning, someone will have corrected my spelling mistakes. someone else will have expanded the page, and another will have linked in a set of references. This is how Wikipedia works, after all.
From the perspective of the original page author, the words have taken on a life of their own. They have germinated, grown, then pollinated, blossomed from the original seed of an idea into a complete lifeform.
