Cultural differences hit home today after on work-related telephone call. In my job, I book appointments. It’s not that exciting, really. No, really it isn’t.
But anyway. Usually, I get asked fairly standard questions; “Will I need to be in?”, “What time will he be here?”, etc. All fairly ordinary stuff.
Except for one very nice gentleman, clearly of middle African origin. His first question to me today was; “Will he be bringing his family?”
That brought home more about cultural differences, and how wonderful and precious they are, than any documentary or textbook ever could.
